Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Here you will find different musings and descriptions of the various happenings in my life. Anything from political and religious opinions to fantastical writings that have absolutely nothing to do with anything important. Some days I may write about my educational adventures and others I may be writing about the rising price of gasoline, you just never know. So, if this is your cup of tea or if you are just looking for the entertainment of reading other people's thoughts, I welcome you and invite you to subscribe to my blog (look for the link in the sidebar). Dr. Dobson says stop the attempt to remove Christmas….

I say remove the commercialization of Christmas instead. I say don’t worry about people who insist on saying such comments as “happy holidays” and “holiday season” as they don’t really matter. NO ONE can stop Christmas and NO ONE is able to remove what Christmas means to all Christians. Christmas is NOT about whether or not Best Buy or Circuit City advertises Merry Christmas or if they declare Happy Holidays instead. Christmas is NOT about whether or not certain corporations try to restrict their employees from wishing others a Merry Christmas and instead use the more general Happy Holidays. It is NOT about whether or not Dick’s Sporting Goods or K’Mart has placed references towards Christmas onto their website or not, nope, not about all of those no matter how much the good Dr. wishes you to believe it (and believe me, usually the good Dr. and I agree on most topics). In tonights Focus on the Family, November 26th, 2007, Dr. Dobson focus’ on these aspects of the Christmas season (or dare I call it the “holiday season”?). Instead I say he should have attacked a much more deliberate and debilitating attack on this revered Christian holiday. That being the continued and overbearing populating of commercialization of Christmas.

T-Day, 2007

Once again it is time to take the butchered bird, stuff it full of great things to flavor it with, and roast it in the oven until it falls apart! That bird, along with all of the fixings such as brocolli-rice-cheese casserole, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, two types of stuffing (regular and oyster), cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, sweet potatoes, and Hawaiian sweet bread rolls, will make our main course. Of course after all of that (if anyone dares to have room) there will be chess pie, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie to fill out the meal. This does not mention the snacks that will permeate our house during the day (we eat our meal at ~ 4:00 p.m.) such as sweet pickle-beef-cream cheese rolls, sliced beef summer sausage (all out of venision this year), cheese and crackers, is it any wonder why we gain so much weight over this holiday? If there happens to be any leftovers from all of this then we will be having such delectable dishes as turkey and noodles, turkey salad, turkey soup, and anything else that can be made from leftover turkey!

So what else is left to do on T-day? Well first of all (and of course most importantly) is to give thanks to God for all of the blessings and tribulations that we have experienced during this last year. You may be asking why thank God for tribulations? Simple, without tribulations you have no opportunities to be blessed and to learn from God what he wishes from you. I try to welcome tribulations as I try to recognize them as the chances I have to grow closer to God. That does not mean that I look forward to or that I desire more tribulations, it merely means that I am attempting to always find the meaning behind those obstacles that are placed in my walk with God.
