Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Here you will find different musings and descriptions of the various happenings in my life. Anything from political and religious opinions to fantastical writings that have absolutely nothing to do with anything important. Some days I may write about my educational adventures and others I may be writing about the rising price of gasoline, you just never know. So, if this is your cup of tea or if you are just looking for the entertainment of reading other people's thoughts, I welcome you and invite you to subscribe to my blog (look for the link in the sidebar). Thank you for your visit and please feel free to invite your friends!

Help save our Parks!

Gov. Blago has determined it necessary to close some very good state parks recently. Moraine View State Recreation Area (near Le Roy) and Weldon Springs (near Clinton) are two that are scheduled to shut down Nov. 1st. This would mean that many would not have a nice, peaceful park to walk, hike, run, exercise, fish, hunt, camp, ride horses and enjoy other outdoor activites in. Many believe that this is just a ploy by the Governor to force the state Congress to pass his pet projects in some sort of deal. Please let your Congress and Governor know that we, the people of Illinois, do not wish for these parks to be closed to the public and they need to find a different method of providing funding for other pojects. There is no reason for taking away our places of enjoyment and recreation in order to fund something else. We fought too long to ensure a little slice of nature for our sons and daughters to enjoy to have someone take it away from us in this manner. Please find someplace where a petition is being circulated and sign it, if you can’t find one then start one up. Casey’s in Le Roy has one in case you are in the area.

Thanks for letting me stand on my soapbox here.

More about this later as Moraine View is very near and dear to my and my family’s heart.

Time to add more features

Before I get real busy with school and work I have decided to devote a bit of time to my blog and add a few fun features. The first of which is called Photocrank and it allows you, the reader, to add comments and fun content into photos here on my blog. These comments and such are meant to add entertainment and should be used appropriately. Please feel free to go to the Photocrank website and download the Browser plugin or toolbar so you too may enjoy adding comments and reading the comments that others leave as well.

I have added various countdown timers that run from my school schedule, my wife and my anniversary (gifts are welcome!), sporting events, movie releases, and even the END OF THE WORLD according to the Mayan Calendar. I will attempt to keep up with the movie releases of those films that I am interested in seeing. I might even add those of films that you are interested in if you leave me a comment with the name of the movie in it.

It appears that school is going to become an extremely busy time of my life right now. I’m happy I decided only to take one class this semester because my Threaded Case Study promises to be a challenge (especially if work interferes). I am relying on my fellow team members to keep up with each other and I also hope to be able to keep up with them. I have resigned from doing the Jeremiah Sportsmen website due to my busy schedule this semester although I have stated that I will be available for consulting services for them.

Jean is busy of course. She has started a new semester of being a teacher’s aide and we are also entering a new phase of our lives as Michael (our son) may soon be moving out and my mother-in-law may end up having to move in due to health concerns. We will cope though as we always do.

Anyway that is all for the moment. I may end up writing more later on today or maybe tomorrow. Until then……

30 Books Everyone Should Read Before Their 30th Birthday : Brazen Careerist – A Career Center for Generation Y

This actually looks like a great site. The only caution I would have is that it may have
some texts that would be too intense or maybe even too extensive for the normal reader
(as most people do not actually read novels anymore). Also, it may be just a bit
expensive to purchase certain books so I have decided to provide some links to some
free e-books that are available online that appear on this list. Below is that list and
the sites where you may find them at:

  1. Siddhartha
  2. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
  3. The Rights of Man
  4. The Origin of Species
  5. The Wind in the Willows
  6. The Art of War
  7. David Copperfield
  8. Crime and Punishment
  9. The Prince
  10. Walden
  11. The Republic

Now understand, I’m providing this so you can find copies of the selected list and read
them at your leisure online. They are from Project Gutenberg which also has free video
and audio tracks as well (check them out at your leisure as well, I highly recommend it).
These are all copyright free and most are downloadable for your ipod or other
compatible devices. Enjoy them as I will. This will nicely fill up my online time and
probably keep me from my WoW sessions in the near future (or at least a portion of
them).

Enjoy and if you have other books that you would recommend, feel free to leave them in a comment!
