Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Here you will find different musings and descriptions of the various happenings in my life. Anything from political and religious opinions to fantastical writings that have absolutely nothing to do with anything important. Some days I may write about my educational adventures and others I may be writing about the rising price of gasoline, you just never know. So, if this is your cup of tea or if you are just looking for the entertainment of reading other people's thoughts, I welcome you and invite you to subscribe to my blog (look for the link in the sidebar). Help save our Parks!

Gov. Blago has determined it necessary to close some very good state parks recently. Moraine View State Recreation Area (near Le Roy) and Weldon Springs (near Clinton) are two that are scheduled to shut down Nov. 1st. This would mean that many would not have a nice, peaceful park to walk, hike, run, exercise, fish, hunt, camp, ride horses and enjoy other outdoor activites in. Many believe that this is just a ploy by the Governor to force the state Congress to pass his pet projects in some sort of deal. Please let your Congress and Governor know that we, the people of Illinois, do not wish for these parks to be closed to the public and they need to find a different method of providing funding for other pojects. There is no reason for taking away our places of enjoyment and recreation in order to fund something else. We fought too long to ensure a little slice of nature for our sons and daughters to enjoy to have someone take it away from us in this manner. Please find someplace where a petition is being circulated and sign it, if you can’t find one then start one up. Casey’s in Le Roy has one in case you are in the area.

Thanks for letting me stand on my soapbox here.

More about this later as Moraine View is very near and dear to my and my family’s heart.

One Response to “Help save our Parks!”

  1. I feel exactly the same way about Weldon Springs. We have our family reunions there at least twice a year and have been frequenting the park for as long as I can remember…over 50 years! Did you happen to notice that NONE of the closings are in the Chicago area? I have been searching for online petitions for these areas and Kickapoo since the news broke, but so far have not found any. If you hear of any, please post them because I have family in just about every state of the union who come to these places at least once a year who would be happy to sign a petition to keep them open. Thanks for opening this line of communication!
