Everything you needed to know about shadowchaser

Jack Corzine has written 148 post in this blog.

I'm a 49 year old Union Ironworker who has numerous interests. Currently I am close to receiving my AAS in Network Administration in Security and am seeking a career change over to the IT field. I love to cook, love my wife and family, and love to live life as fully as I am able to and I try to reflect that in my writings here. Hopefully you will be able to take something from what I place here and put it to good use. Please feel free to comment on anything you wish to here, tell your friends about this website and come back for me. May the Lord God bless and keep you.

ok folks, my first speech for my Comm 101 class is over with and I think I did a good job on it. Here is the entire speech that I gave:

Commemorative Speech Assignment
By John Corzine
Some of my earliest memories of the outdoors and camping revolve around a very special place known as Moraine View State Park or as it was known as when I grew up, Dawson Lake. The fond memories and rich experiences I have from Dawson Lake has been a formative part of my entire life. Dawson Lake is a relatively small area of land that is densely populated with wildlife. Whole generations of families such as my own have grew up at Dawson Lake and learned to enjoy nature. Allow me if you will to take you along with me as I reminisce not on one single memory of the park, but instead on a conglomeration of memories that have become ingrained into my psyche due to the familiarity I have shared with this amazing and exciting park.

The silence and solitude of sleep, relaxing, enjoyable, interrupted only by the suggestion of a sound, the sound of a songbird singing it’s alluring song to his mate. Open my eyes and experience the dappling of early morning sunshine as it dances with the shadows of the oak leaves on the slightly damp canvas of my tent roof. The smell of a wood fire inter-mingles with the odor of bacon and eggs wafts into my consciousness as I pull myself out of my sleeping bag making my stomach grumble as hunger is realized. Breakfast done I head out on the trail to get my morning exercise. Around me is the splendor of God’s creativeness in the magnificent grand old oak trees, the maple syrup bearing sugar maples, the beauty of a huge sycamore and the comfort of the evergreen pine trees. Squirrels scurry busily as they gather nuts and nesting material, a raccoon climbs wearily up the nearby oak tree after a busy night of hunting. As I continue down the trail I am serenaded by a multitude of songbirds, Cardinals, Goldfinches, Warblers and other songbirds unidentified seem to compete with each other to present a private concert with me as their sole audience. I approach the stream where I often find some special gift from God in the form of a fawn quietly drinking while its doe keeps an eye out for danger or maybe the local beaver who is gathering saplings for its winter storehouse of food. Following the stream I find my secret spot where I gather wild and tasty morel mushrooms and wild onions for my meal later that evening.

Upon reaching the lake I hear the cry of a hawk soaring high overhead and the splash of the bluegill as it tries to evade a large-mouth bass. Evening falls as a curtain and the smell and crackle of the campfire invades my awareness giving it a wholeness that I had not realized was missing until it is experienced. Supper sizzles as the fish I caught earlier that day is prepared, the smell of cooking fish reminds me of the battle fought with the catfish and the joy of being able to feed my family. Night has arrived and along with it the glowing eyes of the raccoon and the opossum as they go about their mysterious nocturnal business. The last thing I think about as I drift off to sleep is the wonder of how special Dawson Lake is.

Well, that’s the end of this speech, please let me know what you all think of it. The second speech assignment is on a First Amendment court case. Wish me luck on it!

Please leave a comment so I know what you think about all of this.
