Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Here you will find different musings and descriptions of the various happenings in my life. Anything from political and religious opinions to fantastical writings that have absolutely nothing to do with anything important. Some days I may write about my educational adventures and others I may be writing about the rising price of gasoline, you just never know. So, if this is your cup of tea or if you are just looking for the entertainment of reading other people's thoughts, I welcome you and invite you to subscribe to my blog (look for the link in the sidebar). Thank you for your visit and please feel free to invite your friends!

a fun and relaxing weekend

A different (but good) retreat! It has been a long time since I have attended a church retreat that has been so relaxing and non-pressured. New Church Ministries out of Atlanta, IL is a relatively new church for the McLean/Atlanta and surrounding region. Our daughter and her husband attend there and invited us to go to the Church Retreat at the Circle Z ranch near Platsburg, MO. Circle Z Ranch is owned by the family of the pastor’s wife and is a truly lovely ranch with 3 lakes that are teeming with fish.

Island on Circle Z Ranch

I took Friday off of work so we could caravan down with our daughter and son-in-law (Nikki and Tim Goggin). We left bright and early from Atlanta (around 4:30 a.m.) and took I-55 down to U.S. 36 at Springfield, IL, this took us to Hannible, MO (home of Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain) where we stopped to have breakfast at McDonalds. Breakfast was uneventful and we were soon on the road once again to run into 52 miles of road construction on U.S. 36. Tim of course was overjoyed by the prospect of being stuck behind a semi-trailer for almost the entire 52 miles of construction (we heard about this on the 2 way radios that he had purchased for the trip)! Finally we made our turn off on highway 35 then on down to highway 116 to Plattsburg. Once through Plattsburg we made our way along the backroads to the ranch along a gravel road (which we found out later that we did not have to take, thanks Ed!).

PSG Logo revisited again…

Perry Garner of the Primitive Skills Group that I belong to has requested to see the logos that were made over 2 years ago. It has been suggested from time to time that we, as a group, adopt one of these or maybe a different logo for the group and possibly offer some merchandise with the logo on it (t-shirt, buttons, baseball caps, etc.). As a service to this group (and just one of the ways that I can contribute) I have posted these images here again for the members perusal. If you wish to re-do the images or submit a new one please feel free to email a copy to me for inclusion. If the group decides to I can place another poll up for it’s members to vote on. Here are the images we have so far (click on the thumbnail for full size image):

and of course here is the button that was made by Bob:

Now the life of the logo is strictly up to the group. There have been many discussions in the past about adopting and printing of the logo and honestly I’ve always liked the idea. Seems to me as if someone other than Pars needs to take ownership of this project and move ahead with it. Unfortunately, that someone is not me but needs to be someone else. Hopefully someone will step up to this task and take it to the next step. I have no problem with hosting the images or providing the polls and surveys needed but I don’t have the time to take the task up of heading or organizing this project. So, with that being said, does anyone wish to manage this project for our list? Take the time to comment on it and discuss it off list here if you wish to. I’m not certain how much of the organization and coordinating of this project would be appropriate for traffic on the list itself. Please understand that your comments won’t show up until I approve of your first comment (it’s an effort to reduce spambots on my blog). Thanks for your contribution and your cooperation.
