Tattoed Christians Cause Page
I’ve decided to start a cause on Facebook that deals with the way that some of the world perceives Christians and tattoos. In the mainstream of Christianity, most conservative Christians appear to have some issues with those of the faith either getting tattoos or piercings. I am placing the information on this page not to try to change anyone’s idea but merely to be able to provide informative material concerning this subject. As always, decisions such as this must be made by the individual, not by anyone else. Below you will find a listing of websites that make arguments for the act of tattooing (please remember that I am not responsible for the content of any of these sites, I am merely presenting information here):
- Christian Tattoo: The Needle for the Nail
- Jesus is the Light of the World (Tattoo article)
- About Dot Com: Tattoos and Christians: Should Christians Have Tattoos?
- Sacred Ink: Tattoo and the Bible
The above links are sites for the process of tattooing of Christians. Now I will place my thoughts on this matter if I may (so if you don’t wish to read this then by all means, skip it as it is merely my opinion). Personally, as long as you have taken the time to research and pray upon the matter of tattooing and have also considered all of the social and health aspects of tattooing, I see nothing wrong with it. I strongly believe that if I am mistaken, my Lord Jesus can and will see in my heart that I have tattooed myself with my dedication to Him. As such I am also certain that tattooing is not a MORTAL sin nor will just that act upon itself commit my eternal soul to hell and damnation anymore than the act of cursing (no, I am not talking about taking the Lord’s name in vain), lying (even little white lies), and other “minor” sins will condemn me.
Wholesome tattoos, carefully considered, should not interfere with one’s walk in Christ. Although I do believe that we should not become a stumbling block to anyone else’s walk and as such each tattoo should be placed in a position on our bodies with that in mind. I know that in Haiti, tattoos are considered a MAJOR portion of Voodooism and as such the common layperson sees it as being contradictory to Christianity (along with men wearing earrings). As such I tend to cover my tats and take my earrings out (after I found out about this custom). I wish not to hamper anyone’s walk.
As I’ve previously stated, you need to research this topic and come to your own conclusion. If you wish to contribute to this page please feel free to comment or email me. If you wish to show your support and you are on Facebook, please join our cause. Thank you for taking the time to check this page out regardless on what your position may be.
Yours,
Jack
